What we know so far about the
2025 Battery Rebates!

The official start date is July 1, 2025. Batteries installed before then may still be eligible — but only if they are not switched on or commissioned until July 1.

Maximum of $372 per kilowatt-hour... likely to be around $330 per usable kWh after
administrative fees.

Maximum amount of usable capacity is 50 kWh – but you can install systems up to 100 kWh and still receive the rebate for a 50kWh system.

The subsidy amount will reduce each year until the end of 2030.

STC rebate for panels is still the same. Claimed in 2 parts.

The subsidy is not means-tested.

Available to small businesses and community facilities.

Batteries will need to have been approved by the Clean Energy Council and installers must have appropriate battery installation accreditation.

Solar batteries must be capable of connecting to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), but there’s no requirement to join a VPP.

Despite the requirement to be VPP capable, off-grid installations can receive the rebate.”

You need to connect the battery to a new or existing solar system.

One rebate per property – but owners of multiple properties can claim for each, as long as those properties have solar panels.

Owners of existing battery systems can install another and be eligible.

The rebate can also be combined with existing state schemes.

The government battery rebate is uncapped.

Installers are likely to be snowed under. Get started by learning everything you need to know
